Life-giving relationships that can last a lifetime
Opportunities to Get Involved
Inside/Outside Mentoring
Volunteers are trained and matched with men and women as they prepare to re-enter society after years of incarceration, offering healthy relationships that lead to healthy give-back on the outside.
As a volunteer mentor, you assist your mentee in setting and carrying through on realistic reentry goals that will lead to a healthy future. You meet weekly for six months prior to release, and continue regular contact, often by phone or over coffee, for at least six months after release.
Many of these relationships develop into lifetime friendships.
Church as Healing Community
Returning citizens need the Church. And the Church needs returning citizens.
At a growing number of churches in the Twin Cities, former prisoners are finding acceptance, encouragement, and real community.
But more than half the 350+ men and women leaving Minnesota prisons each month will return to other parts of the state, so we're working to build a statewide network of community partners who welcome, encourage, and equip those coming out of prison, and their families, to stay out and give back.
“Invisible” Families
When a man or woman goes to prison, their whole family gets locked up.
These moms and dads and siblings and children and their experiences are often invisible to the community, including the Church. Even when a church is aware, they may have no clue how to respond.
Mission 29:11 Reentry offers connections and training to mentors and churches who wish to offer a supportive community for the entire family.
